Ciudad (pob., est. 2000: 355.803 hab.) en el este de Polonia, ubicada a orillas del río Bystrzyca.

Fundado a fines del s. IX como un fuerte, el asentamiento fue constituido como pueblo en 1317. En 1795 pasó a Austria y en 1815 a Rusia. En 1918 fue proclamado en Lublin el primer gobierno temporal independiente polaco. En la segunda guerra mundial, en uno de sus suburbios se creó el campo de concentración nazi de Majdanek. Después de la guerra, Lublin fue por un tiempo la sede del gobierno nacional. En la actualidad, es un centro industrial y cultural de Polonia suroriental.
